So you are going to be attending a marriage soon and you have no idea what to wear. When selecting a dress to wear to a wedding there are some basic stuff you will want to keep in mind. Dresses to Wear to a Wedding First of all what type of a wedding will it be? Formal, informal, semi-formal, black tie, or even a specially themed wedding? This will heavily influence the type of dress you choose. You don’t wish to stand out like a sore thumb because everybody but you did the research. A very popular kind of wedding these days is a beach wedding. This calls for a unique type of attire. It’s outdoors so you will need to consider the elements of the weather eg wind and sun. If it happens to be windy can your dress cope? Or are you constantly battling with your dress and also the wind. A dress that's better fitted and never too long so it doesn’t drag within the sand would be the most suitable. If you have sensitive skin you might need something that covers more skin than you usually like too or be sure to bring and employ plenty of sunscreen. Then obviously there’s the issue of footwear. You may prefer to go barefoot during the sand and wear those gorgeous heels when off the sand. Or, you may choose to wear some fancy flip flops or sandals instead. Second, what season is the wedding being held? Summer, Spring, Fall or Winter? The season will also influence the dress choice you make. Nice light breathable dresses that expose more skin for the hotter months and thicker heavier dresses for that colder months. Most weddings may have at least some time spent outside for photos etc so one needs to prepare for these parts of the wedding day. Dresses to Wear to a Wedding Additionally, you will need to consider the body type when choosing the cut of a dress. Only guess what happens dress looks best in your body type so make sure to try a few different outfits on and even get some honest opinions from friends regarding how it looks you. If you want to look slimmer then made a decision to wear a dress that has vertical lines. Conversely if you want to make your figure look fuller eg your bust, then horizontal lines in those areas can create the illusion of fullness. You may consider co-ordinating the color of your dress with the colors from the wedding. Find out what the bridesmaids is going to be wearing and you could consider something that complements them. Of course you don’t want to wear something that’s too similar because you are the guest and it would be embarrassing if someone mistook you for a member of the bridal party. Jewellery can also be another nice accessory to any wedding guest outfit. Try on different earrings and necklaces when trying out that dress.
